The hard work of this family-owned business has stood the test of time for two and a half decades and has remained unmoved. The secret is simple: make every customer feel at home. Always unique, Cravings prides itself on originality; from serving wholesome Italo-Mediterranean dishes made only from the freshest ingredients, to its lush restaurant décor, to warm and friendly service with no pretense.

The pretty extensive menu defies the saying “less is more.” Every dish comes highly recommended. From the Whole Striped Sea Bass served with a refreshing Cucumber, Tomato and Onion Salad to the Couscous Marocain aux Raisins with Moroccan-Spiced Lamb Chops with Eggplant Peppernata, every dish is delicately tasty and infused with flavor.

While Cravings constantly redefines itself with changing times, the quality of the food has remained the same. Recently, a management change initiated a renovation of both the patio and indoor sitting rooms. The result, a sophisticated blend of city chic and relaxing Mediterranean coastal attitude. The outside patio has opened up even more with the elevated skylight shaded with drapes of neutral color. Lavish sidewalk sitting, linen covered tables, and imported century-old Turkish pottery with Geraniums embellish the patio. Perfect for private parties and gatherings are the 2-in-1 VIP dining rooms which boost dazzling crystal chandeliers, chiffon curtains, low back sofas, and comfortable chairs. In addition, the seasonal special has taken a bold turn away from the main theme of the menu. On any given day, the chef can venture into a regional dish from anywhere in Europe.

Ibrahim Oztok’s culinary debut can be traced back to his hometown of Istanbul, Turkey where he started at a prestigious hotel management school and practiced his cooking with his grandmother. Little did he know then, that words of encouragement and tips of cooking learned from his grandma will birth Cravings Restaurant. He garnered most of his skills from Europe and the United States. Among his extensive background experiences include working as a sous chef in Kronberg, 15 miles from Frankfurt, Germany, Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg, also as a sous chef. As fate will have it, working on the Royal Viking Star cruise ship will lead him to settle down in Sandusky, Ohio, where Ibrahim horned his skills for French cooking at Mon Ami Restaurant and later moved to California.

Pioneering the first delicatessen with table sitting with partner Gretchen Mileti proved very popular in the city and in a little as few months, it expanded into a full Italian restaurant (Tutto Italia) with patio sitting — first of its kind at the time, in West Hollywood. Still maintaining ownership, Ibrahim and Gretchen took a step up and added a Mediterranean flare to the menu thereby changing it to what is now Cravings Restaurant. The vision and philosophy however has remained solid and unchanged: “to satisfy every customer’s need.”

Ibrahim hopes to continue to satisfy the cravings of both his loyal customers that has been patronizing his establishment for decades and new ones alike. “I want people to feel at home in my restaurant, to feel like they are in their own kitchen — without the hassle of cooking, of course — to feel relaxed, and enjoy a good home-cooked meal.”
